Kiwanis International

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.

Kiwanis, through guidance and example, works to develop future generations of leaders. Every day, Kiwanians are revitalizing neighborhoods, organizing youth-sports programs, tutoring, building playgrounds, and performing countless other projects to help children and communities.

A Brief History...

In September of 1990, Gordon Young was contacted by Cindy Smith-Lewis (Executive Director of the SMF Chamber of Commerce) in regards to forming a new Kiwanis Club in the city of Stow.  An exploratory meeting was arranged of Division 20 heads and it was determined that a new Kiwanis Club would be organized with the Kent Club as Sponsor.

The club had commitments from 25 people who became the charter members on May 1, 1991, with Gordon as the club's first president.
